International Recognition
The training is recognised by the ILS and, where relevant, the SLSA qualification is recognised as an ILS equivalent. Owners of SLSA certificates can earn the equivalent ILS certificate, giving it international recognition in other ILS Member countries. The Surfing Australia Surf Instructor qualification is the global leading Instructor qualification, in recognition the International Surfing Association has used it as the basis for its ISA Qualification. It is therefore widely recognised and reciprocated throughout other surfing nations enabling certificate holders to instruct using this qualification.
We recommend that you check current individual requirements with the National Sporting Body of the country where you intend to be lifeguiding or instructing to confirm this.
