Extra Activities

Although the main focus of the course is obviously riding, we know that to get the most out of your time in Canada you should try as many activities as possible and if you’ve read this far you should have got the message that there are endless amounts of super fun things to do in Fernie.

Volunteer opportunities

We’re really excited to have arranged for our course participants to volunteer at two established mountain bike races that visit Fernie each summer, plus the local trail crew always welcome helping hands, which is a great way to get into the local scene and meet some of the many friendly riders in town. Getting involved in local events will be a fun and memorable experience and will also be good for your CV, whether you wish to pursue a career in the mountain bike industry or not. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Trail building and maintenance: Join the locals to help build and maintain trails. All 67 trails near Fernie have been built by local volunteers. There is no greater satisfaction then riding a trail that you helped build or maintain. Trail building is hard work but be forewarned it can be addictive. We will organise an experienced trail builder to work with our group once per week.
  • Trans Rockies race: Help with this famous international 7 day Tour de France type mountain bike race.
  • Full Throttle Bike race: Help out to set up and run the Full Throttle Race at Fernie Alpine resort.
