Course Structure
This is a busy course with lots of riding, lots of learning, tonnes of new experiences, and plenty of good times. Of course there's also plenty of time to enjoy life in Fernie without your bike: swim in the river, climb a mountain, skateboard, play tennis, or simply read a book in the sun and enjoy the laid-back life of summer in Fernie.
A Breakdown of what's in store:
| WEEK 1 | Arrive in the early evening & settle into your accommodation. The first day is for acclimatising: check out Fernie, pick up your lift pass, chill out in the sun while you kick off the jet lag. Then the fun begins with guided riding & instruction on the lift accessed bike trails. |
| WEEK 2 | Start the week with the IMBA mountain bike trail building course, then back into our coaching sessions and guided riding. At the weekend volunteer to help at the "Trans Rockies" mountain bike race. Great fun, fantastic experience, and good for your CV if you plan to work in the industry. |
| WEEK 3 | Enjoy a day white water rafting early in the week followed by three days of lessons. By now you'll be riding the trails far more confidently and absorbing some great instructor tips. Finish the week with a bike maintenance course. |
| WEEK 4 | Either continue improving your own riding with our group coaching sessions or opt to take the Instructor Course - this is a three day course where you'll not only be assessed but you'll also be learning all the time. At the end of the week if you're keen to get involved in the scene you can volunteer in the "Full Throttle" Mt. bike race event. |
| WEEK 5 (optional) | Road Trip! This is the ultimate end to any mountain bike course... spend a week travelling the roads of British Columbia in a classic North American school bus, camp at stunning mountain camp sites, soak at natural hot springs, and ride new trails everyday! |
